In sixth grade, each class chooses a Shakespeare play to perform at the end of the school year. Samantha's class did Hamlet. Samantha tried out for the part of Ophelia, Hamlet's love interest who goes insane and dies at the end of the play. She didn't get the part, but she was chose as a lady in waiting for Hamlet's mother, the Queen. She had about seven lines total, and she did a great job. Here's the last tragic scene from the play - Samantha is in the maroon dress to the left of the queen.
The boys who played Hamlet and Horatio are in our ward. The one on the right has a huge crush on Sam! Who could blame him?
