Not Another Post About Snow!

I really don't need to add pictures to our blog every time it snows - if it were January, that would be just about every day! Boring. But to me, the snow isn't boring yet. I still can't get over the unexpected sight of a beautiful white world when I open the window in the morning. It looks so magical. Plus, tomorrow is APRIL and this much snow is crazy! It wasn't even cloudy when we went to bed at midnight last night, and we woke up to this! This was the first snow since we've been here that covered the driveways and the streets. What's really neat is that our neighbor came by with a snowblower while we were still asleep and cleared the snow out of our driveway for us! I hadn't driven on snow-covered streets thus far. I was really careful when I drove the kids to school this morning - nevertheless, I almost rear-ended a fellow parent. Although I was only going 5 MPH, the van started to slide when I pressed the brakes to stop. I quickly steered to the side and just missed the car in front of me. Whoops!
I found this on the back porch this morning. I think Gillian did it!

Summon Your Eagle Powers

The boys watched Nacho Libre for the first time this week. They only watched it once, but they have memorized every line. Henry asked me the other night if he could wear stretchy pants to bed. I asked him why and he says to me, "When you are a man, you wear stretchy pants in your room." Well, last night after dinner, all of the kids disappeared for a while. I looked up from doing dishes and there were four little mexican luchadores standing in front of me. Nathan and I almost died laughing! I promised Elliot that I wouldn't show anyone the pictures I took, but I can't help but to post one. It's the best! And yes, that's Henry's pull-up on his head.

Little Cottonwood Canyon

The Wasatch Mountain Range has many canyons. Little Cottonwood Canyon is the closest one to our house, so we decided to take a drive today and check it out!

Playing in the Snow

At first, we were going to get out of the car and play in the snow at the Alta Ski Resort, but Samantha didn't like that idea - too many people. Henry said, "We have to watch out for the snow dudes!" We found a little spot down the road. It was cold! We're not properly equipped for snow-play yet, so it didn't take long for our clothes to get wet and our toes to freeze. The snow was really deep - every time I stepped back to take a picture of someone, my foot sank at least a foot in the snow! The kids enjoyed sliding down a little hill on their tummies. Once we were completely frozen, we decided to call it a day and go home, which was actually 15 minutes away. In Arizona, we had to drive about 2 hours to find snow!

A Joke

A guy asks God, "In comparison, what is a second like to you?"
God replies, "One thousand years."
The guy asks, "What about a penny?"
God answers, "One million dollars."
The guy's eyes light up and he asks, "Can I have a penny?"
God says, "Sure, just a second..."

Scooters at Sunset

Daylight Savings was invented not by farmers, but by children - they want to keep playing past bedtime because it's still light outside! Our kids enjoyed the crisp air this evening on their scooters. Henry's getting pretty fast on his little one. We need to get him a scooter like the other kids have. Elliot's new trick is squatting down while he rides - it makes him feel cool.

Haircut

I got a much-needed haircut yesterday. I walked over to the girl's house with Henry beside me on his scooter - she lives four houses away from us! I really like the cut. I don't like the picture, but I'm posting it because when I look at this picture I'm surprised to see how much I look like both my Dad and Mom. I can also see how old I'm getting - nice wrinkles!

Spring Snow

When I woke Elliot up this morning for school, I glanced out his window and was surprised to see that it was snowing! I would have been more shocked if I hadn't seen it in the forecast. It's still snowing right now. I was going to take the boys to the park today for lunch, since it's been warm the past few days (65 degrees). I guess I'll stay home and paint the girls' room instead. You can see in the photo the lamp post that Nathan fixed up and the handrailing he painted black last night. They both used to be white and rusty. I think this last picture is funny - it's our neighbor's yard!
